About Us

At Phoenox Textiles, we’re proud of our heritage, but having a strong history has never stopped us from paying close attention to the future, not only for our business, but for the planet.

Born and bred in the Yorkshire countryside

Textiles have been manufactured in Yorkshire for over 700 years. The grass-covered hills and abundant access to fresh water has made the Pennine area perfect for textile production. Our home in Scissett, West Yorkshire has a long history of textile manufacturing, and many generations have passed their skills down the family line.

We are committed to UK manufacturing and are the only company in our sector who still create flooring in Britain. Over 80% of production is completed at our mill in Yorkshire. As with every craft industry, the skills required to create every type of product are not always available from every location. That is why we also have a manufacturing base in India, allowing us to design, produce and supply a comprehensive range of artisan products that we would otherwise be unable to offer.

A family business since 1954

Phoenox Textiles was established in 1954 by local weaver, Jack Mosley who found the perfect home at the former Beanland Co. factory at Grove Mills, Scissett (West Yorkshire). He began by making fabric for bus seats and traditional hearth rugs woven from locally sourced wool, acrylic and cotton. Four generations later, the Mosley family remain custodians of the business, ensuring our reputation, quality and heritage continues to serve our customers and the community we support.
