Who Are We?

We’re Phoenox Textiles and we’ve been in the textile manufacturing business for 70 decades and counting. Founded in 1954 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, we’re proud of our heritage. But having a strong history has never stopped us from paying close attention to the future, not only for the benefit of our business but for our planet too.

A Family Run Business Since 1954

Local weaver, Jack Mosley, founded Phoenox Textiles all the way back in 1954. He found the perfect home for the business at the former Beanland Co. factory at Grove Mills, Scisset in West Yorkshire. We are incredibly proud to still call it our home today. He began by making fabric for bus seats and traditional hearth rugs woven from locally sourced wool, acrylic and cotton. 70 years and four generations later, the Mosley family remain the custodians of Phoenox, ensuring our reputation, quality and heritage continues to serve our customers and the community we support.

An Unrivalled Heritage

Many of our workers come from the village where we are based, often from the same family. This means craft skills are passed down from generation to generation, preserving heritage skills and allowing us to produce quality products that few can match.

Yorkshire Born and Bred

Yorkshire has a rich textiles history that dates back over 700 years. The natural landscape and abundant access to fresh water has made the Pennine area the perfect location for textile production. We are committed to making the most of our natural surroundings and continuing to build on the well established textile heritage of Yorkshire. That’s why over 80% of production is completed at our mill in Scissett. We are the only company in our sector who still create flooring in Britain. But we also have a commitment to protecting our environment which is why we operate as a zero-to-landfill factory. Nowt goes to waste in our mill.
