Our Sustainability Journey

Every company has a responsibility for protecting the environment and at Phoenox Textiles, we’ve made this one of our core commitments. We’ve been dedicated to producing sustainable products using ethical manufacturing processes for more than 15 years and we’re proud that many of the processes we pioneered have now become industry standards.

Manufacturing Without Waste

We are fortunate to call the gorgeous landscape of the Pennines our home and the surrounding countryside often inspires many of our product designs. But we also realise that it needs our protection. That’s why we developed a sustainable strategy that is designed to minimise our impact on the environment by reducing reliance on natural resources and eliminating waste. We now operate as a zero-to-landfill factory and are constantly looking for new ways to further improve our green processes.

Committing To Recycled Materials

Nearly all of the yarns we use comply with the Global Recycle Standard (GRS) - an international voluntary body that defines standards for the use of recycled materials. The cotton we use is 100% recycled and we’ve also developed a process for recycling plastic bottles into tough membrane for our Hug Rug range. It’s just one of the steps we take to ensure that we place as little strain on scarce natural resources as possible.

Sourcing Natural & Renewable resources

We understand that not every material we use can come from recycled products, but we aim to manufacture as many products as possible with natural materials. From our natural coir My Mat doormats to our environmentally friendly bamboo Hug Rug bath mats, we’ve committed to sustainability without compromising on quality. Plus, over 80% of our Origin rugs are made from natural and renewable fibres such as wool, jute and viscose, all of which are durable and long-lasting to ensure our rugs last for years to come.

Leaving A Positive Legacy

From sourcing ethical materials and utilising cleaner sources of energy to seeking new and innovative ways to recycle our products, our sustainability journey is at the forefront of every plan we make for the future. We’ve been committed to sustainable manufacturing for 15 years and counting. Here’s just some of the recycled content we’ve used in our products in this time;

- 192 tonnes of recycled industrial plastics used per year to construct our rubber backing.
- 16 million plastic bottles are recycled each year to create our extra-tough membrane.
- 6.6 million cotton garments are recycled each year to be used in the tufting for our mats.
- 0 - the amount of waste we consign to landfill from our manufacturing site in West Yorkshire, UK.
